Cycle race chaos
I was working in Cape Town for State of Nation Address (SONA) and other activities with President and returned to Pretoria yesterday afternoon.
After the serious challenge I experienced recently with the cycling where their security swore at us and wanted to escort me out of Govt Ave and they said we would have to edit gif twenty minutes but two hours later we were still waiting. My BP was very high and my medication at home. I this time I advised the Kwela driver to use Soutpansberg road. However I was refused access to Tom Jenkins just around 15:00.
The metro police just asked us to move to another road and we had to continue all round to Hamilton, Church and Beckett! The organizers reps refused to say anything.
The driver by this time had to be returning to the airport Ortia and I had to get off and haul my heavy luggage to Falcons.
My sister was in another Kwela car as she was returning home after a seminar and was faced with similar challenges.
Today we are confined to our home! I needed to go to Standard Bank at Menlyn. Could not go out of the gates in Eastwood Street.
We are being held hostage by strangers who do not pay rates like we do!!!
This is unacceptable. They cannot close the road for two days.
In future this should not be allowed. Metro police cannot have so much power!
Regards
